change hands

  1. :  to pass from the possession of one owner to that of another money changes hands many times

One thing in life that is constant is change.  My dad always said this.  Most of the time, I am okay with change so long as I am in control of it.  Ha, who isn’t, right?

We are going through some major role changes at work with new leadership, and at first I was shocked, then sad, and ended up excited.  The next morning, completely overwhelmed, then angry at the rumors.  Last night, I was completely excited again remembering that this is new, different, and challenging.  I love that.  I love being told I can’t accomplish something.  Bring it, right? But still scared of the change.  The unknown.

So the definitions list above are to remind me that the small, little word “change” can mean lots of different things to different people.  I am in the midst of change at work, with being back in school, becoming an empty nest home, and my weight loss.  Lots of change.  So I leave you with these:

“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.” – Winston Churchill

“Change is inevitable.  Progress is optional.” – Tony Robbins

Blessings!

Weekly Shots

I take two shots weekly on Sunday evenings for my Lupus.

This weekend has been bad for me with my Lupus, bones are aching and fatigue is heavy.  Doing too much lately and my body said rest.

I don’t like it but it is something I still deal with.  Seeing my Rheumatologist this morning hoping to stop taking one if these shots.  I have really like getting off of most of my medicines with my weight loss.  I really, really don’t like giving myself shots.

Hopeful.

Enough

I bought this at TJ MAXX.  I have been doubting myself lately, and how much I am doing.  This reminds me that I am enough. I am doing enough.  It will be hanging in the office soon.

Kalbi

Dinner out last night with Carmen.  She had sushi (I can’t have the rice), and I ordered the Kalbi.  I so need to learn how to make this.

I ate three of the BBQ ribs, and a couple slices of carrots. Lots of leftover rice, vegetables, and sushi for everyone else.  I will enjoy the leftover ribs for at least a couple of days.

Habits-Walking

I have been walking in the mornings on our treadmill.   I started with the cardio setting, but have liked the interval program. Oh goodness!! Liked is not really how I should describe it.

It kick my butt! I am out of breathe. Ugh. I am starting out my day with walking.  Trying to kick up my metabolism.  I needed a way to to track my walks, and found a printable insert with my Passion Planner.  I love my Passion Planner.

Not just trying to log my walking habits but other positive habits as well.  How do you track your habits?

Meatball Noodle Bake

I was lazy on Monday, and realized that I needed to fix something for dinner.  So I searched in the pantry and found some elbow macaroni pasta, marina sauce, and some Italian meatballs in the freezer.

So I cooked the noodles, and thought of a making a ziti bake but with elbow macaroni.  I just did the sauce, meatballs and cheese for myself. Mine without the noodles.

David’s with the noodles. It turned out nice.  Dinner.

Potato Nibble

When my Mom used to make her German Potato Salad, she would make a peel or two have a little more potato on it than she would really like to have.  It was a nibble for me.

So I had to do the same when I made the potato salad the other day.  Of course, my peels had more potato on them just because I don’t peel potatoes often enough (my Mom would say). Ha.Add some butter and  salt…and it is perfect. My portion size…for my tummy.  Ha.  Not anywhere near the amount I used to have.  Thank goodness.

Loved the flavor memories from this simple dish.  I loved thinking of my Mom while making the potato salad, but especially loved this nibble.  It was something so small, but always a fond memory.

Rosemary Chicken Thighs

A stick of unsalted butter, a tablespoon of garlic (minced), and 1/4 cup of fresh rosemary sauteed until lightly cooked.  5 boneless, skinless, chicken thighs.

Place chicken in a casserole dish with liberal amounts of salt and pepper.  Spoon butter, garlic and rosemary mixture over, and place in a hot 425 degree oven for approximately 15 minutes.

Top with Italian cheese (we had a mixture), and place back in the oven until the cheese is melted.

It was moist, and really hearty.  I enjoyed the rosemary flavor, but think I should have cooked the butter longer (needed more browning).  My small plate with some canned, green beans.  Yummy.

Shoe Laces

I know it doesn’t seem like much but my laces are straight, in the middle of the shoe.  I recently realized that I am able to do this.  Actually bend over to tie my shoes.  The ties used to end up on the inside part of my shoe.  I had to hike my leg up on the bed, and grunt while doing that.  Struggling to tie them, I didn’t care where the bow was located.

I really like tying my shoes now.  I like going for walks.  I am liking this new me.
