Back to the Habit

The scale is not going in the right direction lately.   Too much chocolate and cheetos! So back to the swing of things…

Habits…walking (treadmill), daily…again.

Eating better. Today.  Meal planning. I must do this.  I have to prep for the week, mainly for lunches, to be successful.  I need some new ideas for dinner.  Need to plan for those as well.  Plan to succeed.

So… what do you do to continue to be successful?  Do you meal plan?

Blessings.

Morning Motivation

This morning the alarm went off at 5:45 a.m., and I just laid in bed.  I didn’t want to get up, and thinking about walking- nope.  I haven’t been walking for the past week, and this morning I wasn’t “feeling” it.

I got my phone, and began the normal part of my morning routine of scrolling through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram (still in bed).  One the the people I follow on Instagram, @onestepcloser_vsg, is weight loss poster.  Her journey is inspirational, and her post this morning was perfect:

Why work-out before work?

  1. It’s often the most peaceful time of the day & a great way to get some alone time.
  2. It preps you for the day, waking up your brain, clears the mind & helps organize your thoughts.
  3. Gets in your exercise first thing & you won’t have to worry about it for the rest of the day.
  4. It boosts your metabolism & gets your digestion moving for the whole day.

All of these reasons were why I stared walking in the morning to begin with…to boost my day.  New habits, right?  So, this lazy butt feeling of a morning, I got up and walked.  I only walked for 20 minutes.  But I walked.  I thanked her as well for helping me get out of bed this morning!

Thankful.

Great Things

Baby steps…right?

“Great things are done by a series of small things brought together.” – Vincent Van Gogh

This is the quote in my Passion Planner this week.  “This week, focus on doing your best on each step as opposed to just focusing on the end result.”

Yes!  One step at a time for everything!  Weight, walking, positive thoughts.  Everything.

Blessings.

Habits-Walking

I have been walking in the mornings on our treadmill.   I started with the cardio setting, but have liked the interval program. Oh goodness!! Liked is not really how I should describe it.

It kick my butt! I am out of breathe. Ugh. I am starting out my day with walking.  Trying to kick up my metabolism.  I needed a way to to track my walks, and found a printable insert with my Passion Planner.  I love my Passion Planner.

Not just trying to log my walking habits but other positive habits as well.  How do you track your habits?

Blessings.

Saturday Habits

Habits.  I don’t normally keep up with workouts or diets on the weekends.  At least, I didn’t in my past.

This morning, I walked again.  The past 3 mornings at 530a, I have gotten out of bed, put on my sports bra, socks and shoes, and hit the treadmill.  I haven’t been concerned with what type of workout, just getting up was enough.  I have been walking, but not consistently.

But it has been enough by just getting up and moving.  I have increased my steps for each of the days, and I am up and being productive with the rest of my day (two loads of laundry will be done by 10a).  I was ready to have coffee on Thursday and Friday during work, but I didn’t and it didn’t kill me.  I was off of the treadmill by the time I was normally out of bed.  So no need to change the process of getting ready for the day.  I just added 45 minutes to my day.

It wasn’t easy this morning especially knowing that I could have slept in.  Stayed warm and cozy.  Nope.  I have a goal to hit by May 16, and it is something I can accomplish.  Well, if I don’t drink as much wine between now and then.  Ha.

So, what have you been sticking with the past month?  Anything fun?

Blessings!!

Goals and Yoga

So in the changes I have been making – yoga.  I do about 5 minutes of basic stretching first thing in the morning.  I have been wanting to do more, and have found some streaming beginning yoga on Amazon Prime.  I have plenty of room in my craft room.

But there my mat sits.  One day I will do this.

Blessings!

Walk

Walking.  I am trying to make walking a habit.  I love it when I actually go and do it.  It is just getting out there to accomplish it.  Habits take 21 to 30 days to form, right?  That’s what the experts say anyway.  Trying.

Yesterday evening, David and I decided to walk downtown Fort Walton.  I love this walk. We were going to follow the route for the 5k that we did in December to see if we could improve our time.  We decided, as we were walking, to go over the Brooks Bridge.   I was apprehensive because we had Dexter with us.  Well, and just in general as it wasn’t what we planned.  But I did it.

We got up to the top of the bridge, and David stopped to take these pictures.imag1133imag1135

What you don’t see is the traffic, the bridge bouncing, and wind blowing.  I couldn’t stop as I was handling Dexter, and really didn’t want to stop.  I love this view.   I love that this is where we live.   We got to the bottom, and went under and back over the bridge on the other side.  We did better on time than I thought, and it was a really good elevation for us to do.  Legs were feeling it.

Legs.  I have lots of skin issues with the weight loss, and need toning (in addition to more weight loss).  I really just want to be healthy.  I like where my body is headed, but don’t want to stop being active.  I knew that there were going to be skin issues.  And I know that my body is still changing and adjusting.  I just want it to look different now.  (Everything in its own time, right?)

This walk was perfect.  Tonight we are going to walk it again without Dexter, and hopefully improve our time.  Maybe I won’t be as anxious since we already walked it, and I know what to expect.

Do you stop to smell the roses along your way?  Thankful David did.  Thankful we chose to do this route.

Blessings.

New Habits/Routines

NoBloPoMo 2012 -Day 5

New routines.  The experts (whoever they are!) say that it takes 30 days to form new habits, or new routines.  I think I am swaying to their side on this one.

I have been on a lifestyle change for 2 weeks with a reduced caloric intake (Prism Diet).  So far it is working on shedding some pounds, and my attitude towards food in general.  These are huge for me, and I am going to stick to it this time! =)

Today is a new routine for me because I am physically going out to a gym to walk/workout. Ugh.  I hate both of these in a confined setting, but with the weather turning colder if I prepare my attitude to the gym now by the time winter is here I will be used it. ???? Well, that is the plan anyway.

I am starting out slow, only 30 minutes of walking, but it is a beginning.  I apparently need to do this for 30 days to make it a new habit.

So what habits have you changed to make your life better?

Blessings,
Jerry Ann
