Beautiful Things

Several years ago, David and I went to a Christian concert at Pier Park in Panama City.  It had several bands, and singers, that I can’t remember.  However, there was one that has stayed with us (David bought the CD), and I have on my iTunes.  I love this song.  He makes us beautiful, even when we feel like dust.

Lyrics:
All this pain
I wonder if I’ll ever find my way
I wonder if my life could really change, at all
All this earth
Could all that is lost ever be found?
Could a garden come out from this ground, at all?
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us
All around,
Hope is springing up from this old ground
Out of chaos life is being found, in you
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us
Oh, you make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us
You make me new,
You are making me new
You make me new,
You are making me new
(Making me new)
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us
Oh, you make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us
You make me new,
You are making me new
You make me new,
You are making me new

3rd Day of Advent – Luke 1:26-33 (Joy)

The Birth of Jesus Foretold (NIV)

26 In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”850wThe_Annunciation,_Adriaen_van_de_Velde,_1667RM29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. 30 But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid,Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”

Sunday Thought

“We can’t grow in knowledge and grace and never change our minds.  When an identity is built solely on a fixed systematic theology, we’re terrified to change our minds.  Let’s grow in knowledge.” – Beth Moore

“Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” – 2 Peter 3:18 (NET)

Grow…it is hard to think the same way all of the time.  To change, or grow in our thoughts is difficult.  Thoughts impact actions.  I want to change my thoughts, opinions, and actions.  Growing is hard.  Changing is difficult.

So I come back to baby steps.  One day at a time, one moment at a time.  Taking time to believe in myself, and giving thanks whenever I can.  Every step we take impacts the moment after.  Do we not take the step if we don’t know the future steps?  We always go forward, but do we go in God’s grace?

Reflecting today.  Taking in God’s grace.  Taking a step forward in the knowledge of His love.

Blessings.

“Be careful how you live; you may be the only Bible some people will every read.” – Unknown

Everyday I need a reminder of this.  My walk, my actions are viewed by many.  All of our steps are viewed by our loved ones, coworkers, and strangers.  Our actions speak louder than any words you may say.

I struggle with this.  Who doesn’t?  But I am trying to be a better person.  To my husband, children, friends, and just those small encounters with strangers.  Don’t they deserve the best in us?

“This is the path I have set before you.  As you follow it wholeheartedly, you experience abundant Life and Peace.” Peter 1:2 (Jesus is Calling)  Are you walking the path set before you?  Am I?
